About Lee Greenwood
A Journey Through Scouting
My journey into youth development began with Scouting, where I spent many years working with young people in various capacities. Scouting taught me the value of outdoor skills, personal development, and creating supportive environments where young people can thrive. These experiences shaped my approach to working with neurodivergent young people today.
Through Scouting, I developed a deep appreciation for activities that build confidence, resilience, and self-reliance. The principles of learning by doing, progression at one’s own pace, and achieving tangible goals remain central to my coaching philosophy.
Archery Credentials
I am an accredited Archery GB instructor, having completed the rigorous training and assessment programme that ensures the highest standards of safety and coaching excellence. This qualification represents the national governing body’s recognition of coaching competence and commitment to developing archery skills in others.
My Archery GB accreditation means:
- Comprehensive safety training - Ensuring all sessions are conducted safely and responsibly
- Technical expertise - Understanding of archery biomechanics and technique development
- Coaching methodology - Skills in adapting instruction to individual learners’ needs
- Continuous development - Ongoing commitment to professional development and best practice
Zanshin Archery and IYVS
Zanshin Archery operates as a component of IYVS (Independent Youth Volunteer Support), allowing us to offer archery coaching within a broader framework of youth support and development.
This relationship provides several benefits:
- Established infrastructure - Access to organisational support and resources
- Safeguarding frameworks - Robust policies and procedures for working with young people
- Community connections - Links to other youth services and referral pathways
- Charitable purpose - Operating within a structure dedicated to youth development
Through IYVS, Zanshin Archery can focus on what we do best: providing specialist archery coaching that makes a real difference to neurodivergent young people, while being part of a wider community of youth-focused services.
My Philosophy
I believe that archery offers something unique for neurodivergent young people. The combination of physical skill, mental focus, and the meditative quality of the practice creates an environment where many find calm and confidence.
My approach brings together:
- Scouting values - Outdoor learning, personal development, and achievement
- Professional coaching - Archery GB standards and methodology
- Zen principles - Mindfulness, presence, and the concept of zanshin
- Understanding - Years of experience working with young people who think differently
Every young person deserves the opportunity to discover activities where they can excel and feel at ease. For many, archery becomes that activity.
