Safety on an archery range depends on everyone hearing — and understanding — the same signals at the same time. Until now, that’s been easier said than done.
We’re thrilled to announce that Sarabec has made a generous donation of range control and alerting hardware to Zanshin Archery. This gift means we can now offer a fully visual safety system alongside our existing verbal and auditory commands — and it changes everything for some of the young people we work with.
Why This Matters
Archery demands focus. It also demands that every person on the range responds instantly and reliably to safety commands: when to shoot, when to stop, when to retrieve arrows. In a mixed group, that shared awareness can’t be left to chance.
For students who are deaf or hard of hearing, auditory-only range commands have always presented a real challenge. And for neurodivergent young people with sensory processing needs — many of whom already thrive in archery because of its structured, calm environment — the added cognitive load of translating spoken commands under pressure can be a barrier.
A visual alerting system removes that barrier entirely. Clear, consistent visual cues mean every student on the line receives the same signal at the same moment, regardless of hearing ability, sensory profile, or where their attention happens to be in that instant.
What Sarabec’s Donation Enables
Thanks to Sarabec’s generosity, we now have hardware in place that:
- Provides clear visual signals for range commands (shoot, stop, retrieve)
- Supports students who are deaf or hard of hearing by giving them full, independent access to safety information
- Reduces cognitive and sensory load for neurodivergent students, including those with ADHD, autism, or auditory processing differences
- Creates a more confident, inclusive environment for everyone — because when safety is unambiguous, students can focus on their archery

A Heartfelt Thank You
To everyone at Sarabec: thank you. This donation reflects a shared belief that inclusive spaces don’t happen by accident — they’re built, deliberately, one thoughtful decision at a time.
You’ve helped us make Zanshin Archery a place where every young person, whatever their needs, can stand on the line with confidence and feel completely safe.
We’re deeply grateful.
